Working within close proximity of the astute class, submarine development area of Rolls Royce.

We were given the unenviable task of creating zero vibrations, whilst demolishing a building with a design that has a history of collapsing.

Thanks to detailed planning and years of experience our senior management team working closely with the client, developed an acceptible method of demolition.

Using our high reach specialised demolition rig and a specially designed scaffold system we were able to bring this building down within very tight restrictions.

Unfortunately due to tight MOD restrictions we re not able to show any pictures or plans of this project.

This contract was the demolition of a late 1960’s 5 storey office block on a busy main road, which was sandwiched between occupied buildings – offices and prestigious flats. Prior to work starting CMEC carried out a demolition and refurbishment survey, which then lead to the subsequent removal and disposal of all asbestos related products.

The building was then demolished and floor slabs broken up and removed leaving a clean site ready for onward development.

Programme & Budget:

Completion of works on time and within budget.

Sensitive demolition work due to close proximity to neighbouring properties.

The contract for CMEC was to remove large quantities of asbestos insulation to the old heating pipes within the floor ducts around the perimeter of the Building and to remove large quantities of asbestos insulation board to ceilings and columns throughout.

The removal of asbestos lagging and insulation board from the building was carried out within full enclosures under negative pressure.

Removal of the lagging to the pipes involved the breaking out of the floor slab (under full conditions) while avoiding the potential to release fibres due to the disturbance of the concrete, this was a highly specialised job, but one that was successfully achieved by adopting the correct working practices through our knowledge and experience of similar works.

Programme & Budget

Completed on time & within budget
